Armed with nothing but a map and a 15 foot vertical, you must run, jump, and wallrun your way across the city to deliver presents and save Christmas. Can you do it in time? If so, how fast?

A relatively simple, gameboy-styled platformer made for the Extra Credits Holiday Jam, made with a focus on game feel above all. Poofs of smoke, camera movement, coyote time/edge gravity, the like. It also has a custom 8-bit rendition of Carol of the Bells, if you're into that sort of thing.

Art based on Lanea Zimmerman's "Minimalist Sidescroll City"

Sound Effects from @Shader's "8-Bit Sound Effect Pack (Vol. 001)"

UPDATE: v1.1:

  • Prevent players from falling through the floor
  • Make several jumps less annoying to land overall
  • Add an additional present and location to deliver to
  • Removed present carrying limit

Controls:

[A/D] or [Left/Right] - move

[W] or [Up] or [Space] - jump, hold to wallrun

[S] or [Down] - fall through floors

[Esc] - quit

[R] - restart

[Z] - toggle between a few window sizes (in windowed mode)

You can use Alt+Enter to go fullscreen, but I've seen people have problems with lag in full-screen Gamemaker games on Win10, so make sure the timer is counting at a second per second.

This game does so much with so little. 4 colours and a pleasant yet simplistic aesthetic, and couple that with very fun gameplay make for a delightful little arcade game! It took me a while to learn the skid mechanic, and the jumps weren't as straightforward to execute as I'd like, however.

That's fair. When you're in the thick of it, it's very easy to forget that just because *you* can make a jump regularly doesn't mean *your players* can. Thanks for the feedback!
